About this episode
Mr Ajit’s grit and determination kept his motivation fully charged even though a number of people did not believe in his potential. He was not deterred when told ‘don’t waste your time, you cannot make it.’ In the many challenges he faced, Ajit never lost sight of his objective, his desire to upskill and upgrade himself.
Ajit’s journey began with the then newly formed Singapore Armed Forces. His role involved decisions in the training of national servicemen, and getting them to move up the ranks. The 27 years in the military and logistics, and 12 years in marketing and business development strengthened his own capabilities.
Though there were more detours than he expected, he obtained his degrees, took on challenging assignments, and expanded his portfolios.
With hindsight, Ajit shares his perspective on managing people, stresses the importance of recognising one own’s weakness, and building a good network/ strong relationships. He recognised the potential of his team mates and worked tirelessly to stretch their potential. He sees himself in “the people business”, and his sense of responsibility and moral code led him to discover new experiences, explore new territory, and expand his vision along the way.
